MVFC By The Numbers Week 7

Welcome back after a two week break due to computer issues, and some general business. I apologize as we ease back into this here I will not have game by game previews ready quite yet, but I do have some new features I had been working on in the meantime down below that I will explain. As far as our team race chart above, now that we are into conference play a reminder that we have 3 statuses:

  1. Normal Logo controls their own destiny
  2. Logo with red outline but controls their own destiny
  3. No more logo means they have been eliminated

The race looks like it will come down to The Marker game as it often does, but Southern Illinois and North Dakota look like they may have something to say about it, and our game of the week between Southern Illinois and North Dakota State will have massive implications early here too.

As discussed I have added some new information to the general data section. This will be Series Conversion Rate (SCR) data. I wrote a detailed write up on it that you can find elsewhere on the blog here: https://jackrabbitillustrated.com/the-jackrabbit-offense-broken-fixable-or-does-it-need-fixing/ . But the long and the short is SCR measures what are the odds a 1st and 10 results in a 1st down or a TD. The higher the offensive SCR the better, and the lower the defensive SCR the better. The first chart is the offensive bar graphs, the second is the defensive, and the third is the offensive vs defensive plot. I have also included the conference and last year’s FCS averages for benchmarks to the bar charts. I apologize for the clarity on the defensive chart I have tried to import it several times. I will have to look into it for next week.

On the offensive vs defensive chart for some added context the further you go to the right the better your offense. The further to the top the better your defense. As you go up and to the right the more complete your team, and the diagonal lines show rough tiers.
