Here’s the post day 1 pre day 2 update:

 

125: Consi, exactly where he should be with exact results he should have based on seed

 

133: Consi, 2-1 record thanks to getting drawn into the WB pigtail. Already has outperformed his seed and looked really good. Took returning AA and #3 Nasir Bailey to the deep end 1st round and almost came out on top. Really eager to see where he ends up today 

 

141: Consi, Had #2 Beau Bartlett dead to rights last night on a deep double that would’ve won the match if not for an insane scramble by Bartlett. But where he should be in the bracket by seed. Also excited to see what he does today 

 

157: Consi, right where he should be in the bracket but outperformed the guy Iowa paid $600k to replace him which led to him ending up here. Ok day but that last bit is pretty funny to me 

 

165: 0-2 BBQ. Clearly still hurt from Big XII. Bright future though hopefully he sticks around and we don’t lose him to a B1G school in the portal 

 

174: Quarter finalist, really good Day. Has already outperformed his seed. I thought he’d be here and I also think his match ups last night were tougher than what he has this morning 

 

184: Consi, Frustrating last night, was up 4-1 on 2x AA Silas Allred from Nebraska who he beat 6-2 in the AA rounds last year. Allred got in on Benny’s leg on the edge with about 30 seconds left but wasn’t a huge threat to finish. Rather than taking a flee or stall call by backing out of bounds Bennett shot a lazy reattack that Allred countered to not only tie the match but throw him to his back and stick Bennett. That dropped him down a match before he should’ve been by seed which is significant because now he needs 3 matches to AA instead of 1

 

197: Consi, dropped to the bottom of the bracket before he should have by seed but now is where he “should” be. Clearly still hurt so expecting him to fight today but nothing results wise

 

285: Consi, already outperformed his seed and is playing with house money in first nationals trip. Hope he lets it fly today 

 

Everyone except Cade needs to go 3-0 today to podium. Only one I realistically see doing it is Bennett but TJ has been there before and Tagg and Cardinal are wrestling phenomenally right now so nothing is off the table! Cade is guaranteed 2 matches today. He’s gotta go 1-1 to get back on the podium. The order in which he does it does not matter other than if he wins his first it puts him in the semis tonight and locks up at least 6th.
